The i3 Strategic Solutions team, made up of experienced engineers and marketing professionals with years of experience in the medical device industry, will review your idea and research its commercial viability. If your idea looks like it has a high probability of being accepted by the target market, our team of engineers will go to work to develop the idea further and receive valuable input from our i3 Surgeon Creators.

Our core group of i3 Surgeon Creators consist of thought leaders from both the AOFAS, ACFAS, and other communities. This core group leads product design and helps us form product development strategies most relevant to the clinician and the patients they care for. We intentionally form project teams with member from both communities to create solutions that work for specifically targeted markets.

The i3 Strategic Solutions team is made up of more than 100 years of experience in the musculoskeletal industry. This team of individuals have spent their careers closely involved with surgeons from concept to commericialization.

Rod
Mayer

PRESIDENT & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Rod has been in the orthopedic business since 1977. His history in the orthopaedic industry includes extensive experience in sales, distribution and business development with an intense passion to serve surgeons in addressing their unmet clinical and practice needs. In 2002, Rod founded DVO, a company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative orthopaedic products for the upper extremity market. Rod co-led the development, growth and eventual sale of DVO to Tornier, Inc. in March of 2007.


Ryan
Schlotterback

CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER

Ryan has spent over 15+ years in the orthopedic industry, with experience in a variety of team and managerial roles within product development including lead engineer, project manager, and group manager. Ryan has commercialized and led teams of engineers to develop products in a variety of markets including hip, spine, extremity, and soft tissue fixation. Along with commercializing medical devices, Ryan has a track record of innovation including eight patents issued or currently in prosecution.


Mike
Coon

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MARKETING & SALES

Mike has been involved in the health care field since 1985. While at DePuy Synthes, Mike was responsible for leading upstream and downstream marketing efforts to drive six products from concept through world-wide commercialization.  During this time, Mike led several branding initiatives and KOL development that led the company to dominant market positions. Mike has six design and methods patents related to shoulder arthroplasty.  Mike also has extensive experience in health care compliance and professional relations.


AdaM
Finley

PRINCIPAL ENGINEER

Adam has been in the orthopedic industry for 11+ years. For the last 3 years, Adam has gained vast amounts of experience across all orthopedic disciplines in roles of developing custom implants and pushing company wide innovation.  Adam worked closely with surgeons from around the globe to create implant solutions for over 1900 patients. Adam has 16 patents either granted or in prosecution.


Greg
Denham

PROJECT LEADER

Greg has 16+ years of engineering and project management experience, mostly focused in sports medicine. He is named on 79 patents issued or currently in prosecution primarily pertaining to soft tissue solutions in the knee, shoulder, hip, and small joints. Having commercialized a wide range of implants and disposable instruments, Greg has extensive experience developing concepts into market relevant products.


Joe
Whitley   

SENIOR CAD DESIGNER

Joe has been in the Orthopedic industry for 11+ years with over 15 years of design and manufacturing experience.  Joe had previously worked in product development in the Sports Medicine group at ZimmerBiomet. Joe supported the launch of various new products within ZimmerBiomet from beginning to end and has 1 patent in prosecution.  Joe is determined to meet unmet patient,  surgeon and customer needs.


John
pepper

ENGINEER

John is a Registered Professional Engineer and holds a MS in Biomedical Engineering. He has been included in multiple publications, and is additionally named on 55 issued patents. John was also the Chief designer of the Smith & Nephew Trigen Nail System. He has experience in a test lab environment additionally has veterinary surgical experience. John manages the in house machine shop for Nextremity Solutions.


DAVID
Johnson

ASSOC. PROD. MANAGER

David started as a marketing intern at Nextremity Solutions, Inc. and is now a full time member of the team. He has assisted in several product launches thus far by creating marketing materials to support and promote sales. His role continues to grow as strong surgeon relationships provide our foundation for success.


EVAN
TAYLOR

PRODUCT DEV. CO-OP

Evan is a Senior at the University of Cincinnati studying Biomedical Engineering. As part of his cooperative learning, Evan works as the Product Development Co-op with Nextremity Solutions. He assists the senior engineers with designing new products, prototyping and moving projects towards production.
